Summer days filled with wonderful memories of sleeping in late, reading the latest Harry Potter book, chasing dragon flies, hanging out with friends, or playing at the pool has come and gone! It is time to do the ususal preparations of registering the kids in schools, getting school supplies, and making decisions about what to wear for the "first day of school photos". Documenting the 1st day of school for my children is an important family tradition. There is only 1 first day of school, and capturing that moment of my child's history is priceless! As we all know, new classroom, with new kids, and a new teacher can create stress and anxiety for both parents and kids! So I would like to offer ideas that can help you create cherished scrapbook school pages without the stress and anxiety!


By taking great photographs you can create great scrapbook pages! Here are 5 easy "Back to School" photo tips that can help your pictures go from drab to fab:

1. If you are planning on taking pictures at the bus stop pay attention to lighting! You do not want the sun in front of the camera. Get close to your child and focus on the eye. When you see the school bus coming shoot as many frames as needed. The more photos you take, the better your chances of getting a great picture.

2. For creating interesting pictures avoid centering your child in the photo. If possible place your child in one corner while the other area of the photo follows the road.

3. Pay attention to the background. You might need to shoot from a different perspective to eliminate distracting backgrounds.

4. Have you child wear solid bright colors. Stripes, busy prints can be distracting.

5. For those parents that work and can not take pictures at the bus stop, take pictures of your child, and the school at your convience. The point is to do it! They are in that grade for only a year!
